BLACK ROCKS BOOKS.
PWYC Studio
I have a lot of gear and it sits idle a lot of the time. If you're in the Dartmouth area, know what you're doing and would like to come use it for your own projects, get in touch and book a time! Like everything else with the distro, the "PWYC" stands for Pay What You Can.
Here's what you can use in the studio:
- Old Mac Mini running the Adobe CS6 suite
- Drafting table
- Large (11x17) inkjet printer and scanner
- 4-station silkscreen printing carousel and screenprinting supplies
- A button press (1", 1.25", and 2" buttons)
- Bookbinding supplies
- Lino carving and printing supplies
- Cricut Joy Xtra cutting and engraving machine
- Heavy duty guillotine cutter
- Heavy duty corner trimmer
- Pottery wheel and tools
- And more!
If your project might require a lot of consumables (paper, ink, button blanks) give me a heads up so I can make sure there is enough or bring your own. As always I am always happy to consider trades - you could use the gear to make a zine and leave me some copies for the distro, for example.
Black Rocks Books is a micropress and zine distro run by Scott Marshall. It exists to promote and celebrate comics and illustration created in Atlantic Canada (or by our expats and imports). If you have any issues or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via email at shop@blackrocksbooks.com or ask in the BRB Discord. You can follow @blackrocksbooks on Bluesky. If you want to follow my art stuff as well you can follow @scottmarshall on BlueSky.
Black Rocks Books operates gratefully in Mi’kma’ki, the
ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaq people.
We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors of African descent who came before us to this land.
This site is always under construction, and I am a broken man on a Halifax pier doing all this. Please bear with me.
